RAPSI
The Ravenscroft Approach to Psycho-Spiritual Integration
(formerly known as Wholistic NLP)
RAPSI is the brainchild of Eileen Watkins Seymour, evolving from her early work as one of the first persons to introduce Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) to the UK in the 1970s, her journey is a fascinating one. Marion Adams, The Logos Centre's RAPSI therapist is also a friend and client of Eileen's and is indebted to her for assisting in her own personal growth and for Eileen's excellent training skills resulting in Logos Associates being able to offer RAPSI sessions at the clinic.
The following text is Marion's description of the RAPSI process.
RAPSI is difficult to describe in just a page or two, one really needs to experience a session to fully appreciate the elegance of the model and the depth of self-healing that can be achieved.
A full description of the RAPSI process can be found in Eileen's book, co-authored with her partner Clive Digby-Jones and Susan Norman (published December 2003 by Saffire Press, entitled “The Missing Peace” ISBN901564053). The last section of the book contains a set of exercises to enable the reader to practise some of the process. Some clients may wish to begin in this way but it is not essential.
Consultations take about one and a half to two hours and are a literally enlightening experience. The partners of The Logos Centre and their associates aim to empower our clients so that they can achieve their full potential on their journey through life.
Nutritional therapy can clear many presenting problems quite swiftly. Diets for weight loss and rejuvenation, for example, are highly effective. With modern science understanding more and more about the effect that nutriceuticals and cosmeceuticals have on our bodies we can dramatically change the way we look and feel. We can achieve a radiant and glowing appearance - so why does one need RAPSI? The answer is to maintain the gains achieved by other therapies, and to enable us to attain our full potential.
A RAPSI practitioner may ask the client the following:
“On a scale of 0 - 100%, what percentage of you wishes to … lose weight? … stop smoking? … be more positive in your outlook? etc. If the answer is, for example, 60% we then get curious about the other 40% which is maintaining the unwanted behaviour.
We then help the client to find the reason for holding on to the behaviour (there is always a positive intention for this holding pattern). The energy is then invited to integrate with the rest of the system. When this happens there is a lasting effect because there is no longer a part of the individual that wants to overeat, smoke, indulge in negative behaviour etc.
The client is guided to find and release hidden and trapped energies and to become aware that we can learn to radiate our light/energy. The effect of this can often be sensed or seen by others, as an inner radiance or glow.
We teach clients to metaphorically look into their own internal universe and to understand the meaning behind various speech patterns they may have adopted, for example:
“part of me wants to do … part of me doesn't”
“I feel blue today”
“I was so angry she/he made me see red”
“I have to push myself”
“I have to hold myself back”
“I don't feel 100% today”
“I don't know where all my energy has gone”
Taking the last sentence as an example we facilitate the client to find the “lost” energy. In RAPSI terms radiating 100% is called achieving authentic excellence, It is important that clients are aware that this is achievable. There is an end to remedial work, often in two to three sessions, the client may then choose to progress with their personal growth.
Sessions are typically 1-2 hours and cost £60 per hour.
